It’s the most wonderful time of the year! I love the holiday season, and sometimes there is nothing better than curling up with a good book and getting all cozy on a cold winter night. Where I live, we have been having a pretty warm December (totally not complaining), so I won’t be reading by the fire any time soon. But I do love to light some candles and have the lights on the Christmas tree turned on while I read. That always makes me feel warm and fuzzy. This week’s topic is Books to Read by the Fire, and I have assembled a mixture of lots of different types of books – winter-themed books, books that make you feel all mushy inside, nostalgic books, and books that just feel wintry to me. I hope you give them a try by the fire one night. Here we go…

5. Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

Ok, this one doesn’t necessarily evoke those “read by the fire feelings” for me, but it’s freaking fantastic and you all need to read it immediately. So why not curl up by the fire and give it a go? You know you want to…

4. A Little Something Different by Sandy Hall

This is pretty much one of the only contemporary books that I have read and really, truly enjoyed. I am basically a cynic when it comes to love stories, but this book is just so stinking cute!

3. The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss

There is really nothing about this book that is wintry or holiday-ish. But it is such an atmospheric read. There is something about fantasy that makes me want to read it during the winter months, and I highly recommend you try out this book on a cold winter’s night.

2. The Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling

Does this need explaining?

1. My True Love Gave to Me, edited by Stephanie Perkins

I just finished reading this book and it was so lovely! I liked some stories more than others, but I already know it is something I will turn to when I want to get in the holiday spirit in the future.

Sorry this post was a bit short today. I’ve had limited time to devote to the blog lately, unfortunately. But I am working on some fun posts to go up in the next few weeks, so I will be back! What are some of your favorite books to read by the fire?

When you get that warm and cozy feeling…..

…..blame it on the books.
